Daylesford Commercial.

The Daylesford Tourism ad is now being shown in every state in Australia except for Victoria. Apparently Victorians already know about and visit Daylesford.

It is a strange feeling to watch our town in this beautiful video.

It is so familiar but so foreign at the same time.
Last night I picked Indi and Jazzy up from that property she walks past with the gorgeous gates and later the lamps down the driveway, I had coffee a few days ago with the berry picking girl and walked around the lake last week. But I admit I have never been to the new spa center.

We delivered some carrots for the table laden with food but I can't find them in there.

I've watched it over and over this morning trying to find familiar faces and places but I can't separate from it to judge if it would make me want to visit Daylesford. What do you think? Do you like it? Would it make you want to visit us?

The Epicure Green Issue.

We are in today's Age newspaper food supplement: 'Epicure'.
It is called 'The green issue' and has some great articles on all sorts of ethical food matters.

It is fantastic that topics like harvest swaps, farmers' markets, locavores and buying, cooking and eating with a conscience, have hit the mainstream.

On page 20 there is an article written by Matt Wilkinson.
It is a great article, you can find the whole thing here.

I'm not overly happy with that photo. I look like I had been cutting and burning gorse all day which I had. Maybe from now on I'll have to do the farm work in my Campers, just in case.

Put Victoria On Your Table, the movie

Here's the Put-Victoria-On-Your-Table movie I've been promising you.

Please note, the handsome man with the carrots and the beetroots is our very own Bren.

Put Victoria On Your Table (part two)

Last Thursday Bren attended the official launch of Put Victoria On Your Table (PVOYT).  I have previously written about our role in the campaign.

It was a lunch held in inner city Melbourne at Chapter House and the invitation told you to be there at 12 sharp.

The table centers were described as nests of regional Victorian produce.
Included in these nests were our heirloom carrots and our heirloom beetroot.

Also included were Daylesford Organics friends Daylesford Hepburn Mineral Springs Co and Holy Goat Cheese.

I love the look of the long white tables and all that earthy, untouched produce.

Before lunch was served there were some speeches, the launch of the logo and then the movie was screened. The movie was the story of Matt Wilkinson travelling around regional Victoria, picking up the produce to make the lunch about to be served.

And then for the lunch.

In case you can't read the menu above, Alla Wolf Taska from the Lake House in Daylesford made; medallions of smoked Skipton eel, Istra pancetta, remoulade of Daylesford Organics beetroot and fresh horseradish.

Cheers!

Put Victoria On Your Table

As part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival this year they are including a segment called Put Victoria on Your Table (PVOYT). This is a concept that aims to encourage people to buy Victorian food and wine from markets, shops and restaurants.

To launch PVOYT there will be a lunch for 60 media and food industry people at a Melbourne restaurant on the 25th of June. At the start of the lunch a movie will be screened showing the chefs that cooked the lunch talking to the farmers and picking the produce from which the lunch was made.

Today we had Matt Wilkinson from Circa in St Kilda and Richard Cornish here filming.

That's Matt in the grey and Richard is the one with the camera.

It was midday and made for some difficult photography with the sun so high in the sky.

They asked questions and Bren chatted about the vegies, the varieties, organics and the soil. He was so comfortable in front of the camera they asked him if he'd done it before. Of course they warned him that it would be edited and an hour and a half of film would end up as a few minutes.

Every table at the lunch will have a display of our heirloom vegies as the centre piece.

Washing the vegies under the shade of the trees made for better photos.

It was a great visit and the beginning of an exciting new concept.

The movie will be released onto youtube in the near future. We'll let you know when.

Before they left we made some very exciting plans for the future.
I could tell you about them but then I'd have to.......................
